Fox Tortilla Soup Recipe

Ingredients

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup butter, softened

1 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 tablespoons lime juice

1/3 cup beef broth

1 orange, juiced and zested

1/3 cup chopped fresh chives

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce

2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules

1 teaspoon brown pepper

1 cup shredded lettuce

2 cups sliced fresh tomatoes

Directions

In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, salt, lime juice, broth and orange zest. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and stir in chives, chili powder, hot pepper sauce and beef bouillon. Bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low, and stir in lettuce. Cook about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

When the soup has reached a simmer, mix together white sugar, beef broth, orange juice, chives, chili powder, hot pepper sauce and bouillon. Bring to a full boil, and cook 1 minute. Reduce heat to medium low, and stir in tomatoes. Return to a boil, and add juice. Cover, and simmer about 15 minutes more, stirring occasionally.

I submitted this recipe many years ago as an experiment when I was learning about the site. It is great as-is but I would change a few things. First, I wouldn't add so much wine because I don't think I would have room for it. Second, I would have put the sauce in the fridge longer, added more garlic powder, and maybe even used less butter. The dough directions are a bit confusing so I will try and stick with them. I think the dough should be able to handle 2 thick rolls of crosstie but it is really thin. I added about 30g more than the recipe called for and a lil less stock to make it a small bit thicker (my personal taste) and a little honey to make it a little richer. I ended up wi

One of the best chickens that I have made in a long time! My chicken was around 3.5 pounds, so I only used 1 tbl of butter but also added in 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of onion powder, & 1 tsp of allspice.
