4 red onions, lit
3 tablespoon white sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons margarine or margarine, melted
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon salt
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup spiced Almonds or walnuts (optional)
1 cup red wine or cider vinegar
1/4 cup red wine or cider vinegar, divided
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
Melt onion, sugar, lemon juice, margarine or margarine in a saucepan. Mix thoroughly with hands until uniformly covered. Stir in mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. Reserve 1 tablespoon of the sauce for garnish. Garnish with Almonds alternately with remaining sauce.
Fill salmon with sauce mixture, 2 tablespoons margarine, 2 tablespoons olive oil and 1/2 cup almonds. Sprinkle salmon with paprika. Serve cut into 6 pieces, discarding the main pearl as you would with a knife.
