1 cup butter, divided
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
2/3 cup water
1 teaspoon lemon zest
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place 1 tablespoon lemon zest on each end of each roll. Place desired amount of lemon zest into the center of each roll. Roll out and refrigerate until firm.
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, lemon juice and water. Mix in the lemon zest and lemon zest until thoroughly combined. Roll out and refrigerate until firm.
Cut each roll in half; cut into 1 inch portions (about 10 circles) and arrange on a platter. Garnish each piece with lemon zest.
Bake in preheated oven until crust is golden brown, about 20 minutes. Serve warm.
