Irish Guinness Recipe

Ingredients

3/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 3/4 cups orange maraschino cherries

1 egg

3 tablespoons sifted all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon butter or margarine

6 slices smoked fish, cubed

4 (3 ounce) jellied caramelized onions

8 nectarines

1 1/2 cups whiskey

1 (6 ounce) can sliced peaches (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9-in. pans.

In a medium saucepan, combine 3/4 cup milk, vanilla extract, orange maraschino cherries, egg and flour. Cook over high heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full boil. Remove from heat and whisk in butter, sugar and flour. Pour mixture over bread in 10x15 inch loaf pans.

Place orange slice slices over fruit, and flatten the edges to make a tight grip. Spread caramelized onions over fruit. Place sliced peaches over fruit.

Spread half of the peaches mixture over each loaf. Stir 2/3 of the grenadine into loaf. Repeat with remaining fruit.

Place 8 nectarines on each loaf. Pour peach mixture over nectarines and spoon cherry mixture over nectarines.

Bake for 50 minutes, or until cherries are tender. Cool slightly as slices make perfect sandwiches or serving. Cool completely, and store in refrigerator.

To make the cherry filling: Place 1 cup sugar in a mixing bowl. In a small bowl, beat cream cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, sour cream and 1 cup sliced peaches into 1/2 cup sugar mixture. mix well.

Outstanding! I made this for my family who normally barely tolerates gluten. Everyone loved it. The most critical actually ate three and practically ignored the bread. It was very easy to make and came out great. I will make this again.
