Stew Applesauce Recipe (8 Tablests.)

Ingredients

16 English muffins

1 cup white sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

3 cups apple pie filling

1 cup chopped pears

Directions

Preheat oven broiler. Sift together the flour, 1 teaspoon packed brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg; set aside.

In a large bowl, mix apple pie filling, pears and remaining 1 teaspoon brown sugar. Arrange this mixture on two muffin pans, horizontally. Dust the tops of the slices of each muffin with bread crumbs, then lay each slice on top.

Brush tops of muffins with this egg mixture. Spoon cream mixture evenly over muffins.

Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until muffins are golden. Be patient over the 15 minute mark! Cool muffins slightly before removing from pans.
