Petite French Toast Recipe

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter

2 eggs

1 onion, diced

4 slices bread

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

1 (8 ounce) package frozen mixed vegetables, thawed

1 cup milk

2 tablespoons cider vinegar

1 teaspoon prepared white sugar

1 teaspoon bakers' sugar

1 teaspoon dried lemon zest

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

2 tablespoons margarine

1 teaspoon salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9 inch pans.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, eggs, onion, bread, flour, milk, vanilla extract, cheese, mixed vegetables, milk, vinegar, and sugar until smooth. Beat in the lemon zest and cream cheese.

Arrange the bread slices evenly in the bottom of the prepared pans. Pour milk mixture over bread slices, covering completely. Pour remaining milk mixture over bread slices.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean. Cool in pan on an ice surface. Repeat with remaining bread slices. Cool completely on baking sheet. Serve with butter cream, eggs or egg whites, if desired.

Remove bread from pans and place on serving platter. Serve warm.

I really like this bread. It is very easy to make and follows the proper amount of flours. I followed the recipe exactly and it was very safe for me and my family. I had all the ingredients prepared and was monitoring ketone levels when I made the switch. I tested the recipe out on my husband's birthday party so far and it is excellent! Very good spread. And so simple.

How come petite French Toast is not too sweet and i don't want the added sugar that mascarpone and strawberry Jam seemed to give? I made smallish pieces and I put the rest in the refrigerator. I got rid of the white sugar and all except strawberry Jam, which I will use in a future recipe, Happy to be the first reviewer. The quality of the French Toast is definately not bad. I might try it w/ the strawberry jam recipe in the future. BTW, easy a lot of strawberry jam in this. Kids might dig it. A++++++

This is the first time I have ever rated a recipe and it is a +! Smooth and tender french toast is the taste perfect breakfast treat. I used my flour teaspoon to dust the inside and out of the eggs, I also added a tsp or so of vanilla and a bit more flour. Perfection!
