1/4 cup butter flavor shortening
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened chocolate syrup
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup chopped almonds
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Bake cookies 1 hour in the preheated oven, stirring occasionally. Remove from oven, cool completely on wire rack, and store in an airtight container.
When cool, peel and slice cookies.
In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and flour until smooth. Beat in the chocolate syrup, sugar, egg, and vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk. Beat in almonds and chopped almonds. Wrap the cookies in plastic wrap paper, and wrap tightly in plastic wrap paper.
Return cookies to the oven, place in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until light brown. Remove from oven, cool completely, and store within refrigerator.
very good, a little bland, i added 2 Tbls. cream cheese a little chili powder, some garlic powder and cracked black pepper to the second batch and they came out better
