8 slices fresh bread
1 inch slices smoked, top cut bacon
4 crumbled black olives
4 oz dried pimento-stuffed green olives
4 ounces dried cranberry juice
4 ounces fresh mushrooms
1 (10 ounce) container cocktail sauce
4 slices black olives
2 1/2 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
With a handful of bread, anything but the bread alone, slice into 1 inch slices and place on a baking sheet. Cover with foil and bake in a 375 degree F (190 degrees C) oven for about 2 hours, or until browned. Strip bread of excess moisture, place in fridge and let rest overnight.
Arrange 1 teaspoonfuls of assorted toppings on bread slices, starting with olives, then cranberries, then mushrooms, then cheese. Bake for 30 minutes,, or until cheese is melted. Serve with cocktail sauce.
I loved the sauce, but the instructions to parbake the bread nearly ruined it. I will make this again but will start with the fresh ingredients.
