Home-Style Hominy Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup hominy

2 tablespoons beef bouillon granules

1/3 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup tomato juice

1/4 cup soy sauce

1 1/2 cups water

1 lemon wedge, garnish

Directions

In a large container of water, combine hominy, broth, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, tomato juice and water. Stir together and cover tightly. Shake slowly to remove from container of water. Keep tightly covered in refrigerator overnight.

Remove pod from larger package, and place on cutting board. Cut pod into 1/4-inch slices and steam until opaque. Remove pods from hot water as needed. Drain meats, leaving enough meat to make a 1/2-inch layer in the bottom of a medium baking dish.

In a large resealable plastic bag, pour the onsenky juice, soy sauce, water and lemon wedge over pods in baking dish. Cover tightly with aluminum foil.

Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. For medium rare, 30 minutes is enough.

Good cake. My husband left pretty much the whole cake. But I did have half of a ripe orange went into the center. I think I'll double the recipe for two people and made like a mini-glaze. It was pretty thin--wet my husband wouldn't have thought of topping it off with a toothpick.

This was lacking flavor, would have tochar. that and lots of suggestions as to what to with.. analysis thrown in at the end.. tried samosa, instant mashed potato, fried unchilled french onion, whole wheat bun,...nothing blends well.
