1 cup slowly cooking water
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 cup olive oil
1 (4 ounce) can crushed pineapple with juice
1 (8 ounce) can purple grapefruit, drained
Place the water, sugar, salt and olive oil into the top of a double boiler and heat until almost boiling. Mix in the pineapple and grapefruit. Heat gently, stirring frequently during the first hour or so of cooking. Remove from heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Rotate rolls and let cool completely before slicing or scooping completely. Lay seam side up onto a cutting board. Carefully lift the crust from the pan and cut into thickness.
