1 1/2 cups lukewarm milk
1 1/2 cups butter, melted
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 eggs
2 tablespoons brown sugar
5 tablespoons margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease two 8 inch round cake pans.
First, whisk together the milk and butter . Stir milk mixture into the butter mixture; beat until well blended. Combine the sugar, flour, baking soda, baking powder and garlic powder; add to peach mixture. Mix together egg, brown sugar and margarine, mixing just until combined.
Sprinkle with lemon zest and pour batter into prepared pans. Place onto prepared pans.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of soured cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Frost with frosting before removing from pan. Cut from the cake onto plastic cutting boards. Garnish with chopped pecans.
