1/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3/4 pound beef lard
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Combine butter and milk in small bowl. Roll lard into large strips. Cut strips into 1-inch pieces. Place lard strips around the edge of a loaf pan. Roll out remaining strips on top of lard to secure to bottom of loaf pan.
Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) until drumsticks are golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) or to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
