8 tablespoons margarine, melted
1 (15 ounce) can sliced apple
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage
2 dashes ginger ale
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup sliced almonds
In a microwave oven, combine margarine, apple, lemon-lime soda, ginger ale, sugar, flour, pecans, and almonds. Microwave on high 15 minutes, or until cooked through. Drizzle a thin glaze over apple slices, or for drizzling more lemon-lime flavoring over slices of pie. Place sliced almonds, cut side up, on a large serving platter.
To serve, scoop the apple into a small bowl, and toss with lemon-lime soda mixture. Spread apple mixture on pie, cover, and brush remaining lemon-lime liquor over edges of pie. Serve with whipped cream.
