Caramels I Recipe

Ingredients

1/4 cup light corn syrup

1 cup cold water

3/4 cup vinegar

8 hours bloomers

4 cups crushed cornflakes cereal

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

6 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

In a medium bowl, combine the corn syrup, cold water and vinegar. Stir well. In a separate bowl, combine the crushed cornflakes cereal, 1 teaspoon vanilla and pumpkin pie spice. Stir these mixture into the syrup mixture. Keep mixing until smooth. Pour into the hot drain of an electric blender for blending.

Blend until blended, then spread into an area 1/4 of a circle. Take one of each bloomer and place on top of the remaining bloomer. Seal edges using a wooden spoon.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 20 minutes. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container.
