1 1/3 cups white sugar
5 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/3 cup butter
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
8 egg whites
8 tablespoons lemon juice
Sift the flour into a large bowl. Cut in 1/4 cup of butter or margarine, if desired. Stir in sugar, flour, baking soda and cinnamon. Scoop the butter mixture into small neat pieces. Cut into 1-inch squares. Place 1 tablespoon of butter filling in each square. Add the crushed ice cream, and stir to coat. Place squares in on separate plates.
Beat the butter filling until blended, then mix into the whipped topping. Roll individual squares in topping mixture, and serve immediately.
