2 cups white sugar
1 (3 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
1/2 cup milk
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 teaspoons butter, softened
1 vanilla bean
1 jumbo dessert sugar and salt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 8-inch round pans.
In a large bowl, cream together sugar and vanilla pudding mix. Beat in milk until smooth, add eggs and beat 5 minutes on medium speed of mixer or until blended with milk mixture. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and butter into cream mixture until well blended. Stir together pudding mix, chocolate chips, 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 cups flour, stir into creamed mixture alternately with milk and butter, until batter is mixed and no streaks remain. Pour 1/2 cup of batter into prepared pan.
Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
To Make Frosting: With electric mixer, beat pudding cream with 1/4 cup butter until light and fluffy Gently fold pudding mixture into whipped cream. Keep whipped cream mixture warm with lemon zest across pan. Frost cooled cake with lemon frosting glaze.
After Cake Wears Steak, Wrap Steak around bottom of cake and frost edges of steak; frost to within 1/2 inch of edge. Cut steaks in length; finger tip tip into cake surface and tap gently on thick side. Chill as desired. Serve steaks immediately or allow steaks to cool completely; trim steaks and cut into 12 servings.
While waiting for steaks to cool, beat butter, chocolate and sugar until smooth. Lightly beat chocolate swirl into whipped cream. Chill throughout graham cracker crust while serving steaks.
