1 cup butter, softened
1 cup margarine
2 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup sifted confectioners' sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large saucepan, melt butter and margarine together over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in eggs. Mix in milk, vanilla extract, flour, baking soda, baking powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and confectioners' sugar. Mix well and pour mixture into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
In the same saucepan, melt chocolate chips, stirring constantly so that they do not brown. Remove from heat and stir in unmelted chocolate chips. Add confectioners' sugar and whipped cream, mixing well. Mix until well blended. Spread over cooled cake. Chill in refrigerator.
works great no issues with the white chocolate frosting
I made this recipe for a cake/cupcake recipe I was designing, and the result was excellent. However, I should clarify one thing: The powdered sugar is not "making sugar" - it's merely powdered milk. I did not make the powdered sugar, and the cake/cupcake is not "caking", it's more of a batter/caking-type recipe- so the powdered sugar doesn't really "cream" well and there's a fine allrecipes-y cake/cupcake that still owes a debt of gratitude to the people who wrote the recipe. My understanding is that whole cloves (fresh or frozen) of garlic belong in the same class as onion and clove, and so I left them out. Thanks for the reminder, Jeanie!
This was a great wedding cake - I made sure to watch the cocoa powder - it isn't optional.
