2 teaspoons butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
8 slices French bread, torn into small pieces
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Place butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Mix very well. Cook until mixture is light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in sugar, egg and butter. Beat until blended. Stir in flour mixture, then pour into buns and place in a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Dip bread pieces in butter and sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and pecans.
