1 cup butter, softened
1 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 cup rolled oats
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups rolled oats
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the Oatmeal. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, salt and oats. Add the water and mix until well blended. Finally, stir in the applesauce mixture. Drop the dough by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until the tops are lightly browned. Cool on baking sheet for 1 to 2 minutes before removing from baking sheet to cool on wire racks.
