Oven Baked Apples Recipe

Ingredients

3 cups apples - peeled, cored and chopped

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 cups white sugar

4 eggs, egg yolks, and 1 tablespoon water

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

2 cups confectioners' sugar

1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a large bowl, combine apples, cinnamon, sugar, eggs, water, salt and pepper. Mix well and pour into apple mixture.

Bake, covered, in preheated oven for 75 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and cooked chopped apples. Remove from heat and stir in confectioners' sugar, nuts, walnuts, and 1 cup of milk.

Add milk/nuts/covering mixture to apple mixture and stir just until combined. Pour into baking dish.

Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes.

To assemble cover, set aside 1 cup of apples/covering mixture and remove from oven. Spread remaining apple mixture over apples, then sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon; set aside.

Spread remaining cinnamon/garlic mixture over apples. Pour in apple mixture and spread to cover. Layer remaining apple mixture over top, covering the apples.

Pour the remaining confectioners' sugar over the top of the apples, and press lightly to the apple. Cook the apple over covered, until golden brown and set. Finish the apples by placing on a cutting board and cutting into strips as you go, until all are golden. Drizzle the cream over the apples.

Good and easy but a couple of suggestions. Cut down on the salt slightly. Next time I will leave it as is but will definitely make the change. I enjoyed the flavor but would have made a few changes.
