1 (18 ounce) can apple pie filling
1 (16 ounce) package lemon cake mix
2 cups white sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
1 (18 ounce) can sliced dates
3 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 1 1 1 or 2 quart casserole dish.
In a large bowl, mix apple pie filling, lemon cake mix, sugar, oil, dates, and fritters. Mix well and pour mixture into prepared dish.
Bake in preheated oven until center of the cake is set, about 2 minutes. Cool slightly and sprinkle icing over in the center of the cake (do not frost edges). Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before removing from pan. Serve with whipped cream or whipped cream cheese frosting.
