3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup white sugar
2 cups apple pie filling
1 (3 ounce) can evaporated milk
2 teaspoons lemon zest
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Combine the butter, flour and baking powder in a medium bowl. Fill pie crust with apple filling. Cut crust into 1/2 inch squares.
Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour. Set aside while baking pie.
In the same medium bowl, beat together sugar and apple pie filling until smooth. Fold in lemon zest. Spread over pie and sprinkle with lemon zest.
Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until filling is set and crust is golden brown. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and continue baking for 20 minutes.
