4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter, softened
4 eggs
1/2 cup milk
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until cream forms. Stir in eggs to form a creamy paste. Begin baking in a preheated oven.
Spread evenly among sheets on 4 quarts baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until tender and lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes, turn, and bake 15 more minutes, until golden brown and a knife inserted comes out clean.
To make icing: In a small saucepan, combine milk and vanilla. Continue baking in preheated oven for 30 minutes, until thick and glossy. Remove from baking sheet to cool. Chill until icing can be whipped or dipped.
