Apple Schnitzel Recipe

Ingredients

3/4 cup butter

2 eggs, beaten

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

4 teaspoons black pepper

1 3/4 cups packed light brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon butter, melted

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 cup applesauce

2 tablespoons flour for dusting

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Set aside.

In a medium bowl, mix together the butter, eggs, vanilla extract and brown sugar until smooth. Stir in the salt, pepper and brown sugar mixture. Spread a 1/2 teaspoon or so of fruit mixture onto each bread or baking dish. Dust evenly with flour. Dust with butter or margarine, but either way, spread with flour to keep brown sugar and fruit mixture evenly coated.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 35 minutes, or until lightly browned.

I gave it 4 stars because it was very tender but I also put them through the wringer and they turned out very well. I used Heather Salt, it says to use 2 teaspoons but I feel that if I use 1/2 teaspoon it will be WAY more expensive for me so maybe ¼ teaspoon is the best amount i could find. I also ran some cold water over the surface of the meat and it turned out very well.
