2 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup white sugar
1 yellow onion, sliced
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups bread flour
1/3 cup butter
1/4 cup white sugar
1 (15 ounce) can sliced peaches, drained
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cakes pans.
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, oil, sugar, onion and flour. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
In a medium bowl, combine bread flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir mixture into milk mixture.
Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
In a small bowl, combine peaches and milk mixture. Pour over Riesling cake.
