2 cups milk
3 tablespoons white sugar
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons shortening
Line a 9x13 inch baking dish with foil on the foil.
In a large saucepan over low heat combine milk and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil, without stirring, until mixture boils slowly. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and shortening.
Pour all ingredients into prepared pan and bake in preheated oven for 60 minutes.
To make topping: In a small bowl combine egg whites, 3 tablespoons of milk, 1 cup of the whipped cream, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Cream together until smooth.
