Shy Knees Recipe


1 cup oat bran flakes

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon dried minced onion

1 teaspoon chopped fresh ginger root

1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar

1 cup raisins


In a medium bowl, mix oat bran flakes, soy sauce, salt, baking powder, onion and ginger.

Heat the brown sugar and sugar in a large saucepan or small saucepan over medium heat. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Stir in the raisins. Remove from heat, stir slowly down into the bran flakes by spooning, and turn into the saucepan. Cook until the raisins are cooked and smooth. Leftover raisins can be refrigerated. Serve and enjoy!

I was really pleased how these turned out. All that flak you get when you fry bacon is really not that bad. I used olive oil rather than canola, added the bacon fat at the end and called it a day. I will definitely make this again.
