2 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 4 ounce can evaporated milk
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan or pan of a larger size.
In a large bowl, cream the butter or margarine with the evaporated milk or sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs and 2 tablespoons vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and baking soda, gradually stir into the creamed mixture until well blended. Fold in the flour mixture, then quickly fold in the marshmallow creme. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
To make the frosting, beat the cream of tartar with the sugar and vanilla until smooth. Beat the egg whites into the frosting. Spread the frosting over the apple layer and spread over the top to cover the crust.
