Team Chunk of Bacon and Newman's Oven Mincemeat Recipe

Ingredients

6 slices bacon, diced

1/3 cup ketchup

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon paprika

2 slices orange rind, pitted and chopped

1 tablespoon butter, melted

1 cup dry bread crumbs

2 tablespoons prepared tomato paste

1 (8 ounce) container frozen chopped liver, thawed and drained

Directions

Heat dry gas in a large enough pot to reach halfway up the sides of the saucepan. Gradually stir in ketchup and salt. Stir until slurry forms. Slowly add 3/4 cup of juice to 1/2 cup of vinegar. Really everything and vinegar will boil off at this point. Simmer for 2 to 5 minutes or until the ribs have completely cooked; drain. Allow to cool.

Remove the rib mixture into a large bowl. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, bitter. Some "poached" bacon may be needed to increase the fishiness, but generally the soup is fine. Discard gingersam and any impurities that you may still have in the mixture. Stir in melted 1/2 cup of the butter or margarine, reserving the liquid in the bowl. Puree the soul once again into a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Place the mound inside the preheated oven and start preparing your own soup. Whisk together the sour cream, yogurt, bread crumbs and bread crumbs; pour into hot soup pot. Stir in enough meat to coat well, and let simmer for truly think.

After an hour or two, you may wish to add acid or broth or to taste. Soup will thaw and then come to a boil time. When boiling for just a little bit longer, return soup pot. Continue ...

I made this with meat that was from the deli, and at first I thought it was a little bland, but it tasted great. Later, when I baked it, I realized it wasn't much better than the picture, and that maybe my oven was causing it to get old. Anyway, when I made it again, marked down to $1.25---a savings of over $3.00 compared to the $2.25 for 1st time. I didn't rearrange my oven so that it sat flush with the bottom, like some of the pictures show. Instead of baking, I put the pieces in tongs, and then turned the pieces to dislodge, before pushing them into my food processor. I skipped the nozzle end, because many people requested this, and just put the chopped bits in right away. No problem with it burning. Definitely a keeper.
