1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Stir in the flour, salt and vanilla.
Shape dough into balls 1/4 inch thick and lay them out on an unprepared cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven, then remove from the baking sheet to cool on wire racks.
Using a large glass or metal spoon, stir together the confectioners' sugar and the vanilla until smooth and fluffy. Drizzle the mixture onto the cooled baked bars.
