1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup white sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon white sugar
3/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F (125 degrees C). In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and 3/4 cup of butter. Stir well, then stir in egg, milk and 1/2 teaspoon of cake mix. Make a well in the center and pour into greased and floured 13x9-inch baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean.
Melt chocolate and 1/2 cup milk in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. When chocolate and milk are melted, pour the hot milk into cooled crust and blend until smooth. Chill until creamy and spread over cooled crust. Chill before serving.
To make the Mering Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, stir together 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup shredded coconut and 2 tablespoons pecans. Heat to boiling, then remove from heat. Stir in 1 cup of hot milk to 1 cup of melted butter. Heat your own mering sauce. Voila!
