1 pound lean ground beef
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 medium onions, chopped
1 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 cup neutral brandy
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons chili powder
3 tablespoons white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
In a large stockpot, heat beef and brown on all sides, about 1 minute. Remove from pan, drain and set aside.
In a small saucepan, combine tomato paste, onions, tomatoes, neutral brandy, lemon juice, chili powder, vinegar, salt, pepper and mushrooms. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer just until liquids are absorbed. Remove from heat, cool and serve.
